We are Melbourne based, Australian company. Inspired by Japanese culture, founders Hiba and Tarek sought to bring the Japanese sauna experience to Australia and making it affordable to everyday Australians.
The term Mizuryoho means ‘hydrotherapy’ or ‘water therapy in Japanese. The Japanese have been known for the use of water as a therapy for hundreds of years, including Japanese traditional medicine involving the drinking of ‘lukewarm’ water every morning as a precautionary practice against serious illnesses.
In 1957 the Japanese culture adopted the dry sauna that used a steam pipe to heat up the sauna room which was installed in the Tokyo Onsen (Tokyo Hot Springs) bathhouse in Ginza, Tokyo, Japan. Less than a decade later, Finnish athletes brought sauna equipment to the athlete’s village of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, which was picked up by the press and became a hot topic of discussion. This led to saunas becoming popular nationwide with Tokyo Onsen and the Olympics being the initiation of the rise of sauna culture in 1960s Japan.
